Kuhnke BI34 Series Bistable Solenoid with 8mm Stroke.
An external return spring is held in position between the casing by a circlip. Upon application of power the profiled shaft pulls in against the spring, upon removal of power the armature is held in position by an internal permanent holding magnet.
By momentarily reversing the polarity of the coil, the armature breaks away from the holding magnet, and the spring then returns the shaft to its rest position. The solenoid shaft is not retractable and secured in place by a locking nut. The BI34 solenoid is part of our preferred type solenoid range, available for quick delivery and competitively priced.
Standard voltage is 24V DC; other DC voltages are available on request. The solenoid offers 8mm stroke at an initial force of ~12 N; the end force ~45 N. All values are calculated without a return spring. The nominal power consumption is 38 W. All calculations based on 90% rated voltage, a duty cycle of 25% and an ambient temperature of 35°C. Colour coded connection flying leads are 10cm in length.
