AX70 | AX71 ATEX Absolute Rotary Encoder

The ATEX-approved Hengstler AX70 | AX71 absolute rotary encoders, made of lightweight aluminium or high-grade stainless steel, are used within atmospheres where mists, gasses, vapours, or clouds of dust are present, where atmospheres have the potential to combust.

The Hengstler ATEX-certified AX absolute rotary encoder complies with the ATEX directive for use within Group II Category 2, zones 1 and 21.

Aluminium housing ensures the encoder is light yet robust, suited to industrial applications where temperature extremes, shock and vibration are likely to occur.

Stainless steel housing is particularly suited to applications where high resistance to corrosion is required, for example, chemical areas, food production or marine applications.

Mounting options are clamping flange only. Encoder resolutions up to 22-bit single-turn and 12-bit multi-turn are available (see interface type for resolution availability) with a shaft diameter size of 10mm and shaft protection class ratings of up to IP67.

Cable outlets are axial or radial; the standard cable length is 5 metres. Producing the AX encoder with additional cable lengths is possible.

The supply voltage is 5V or 10 to 30V DC. Interface options are BiSS, SSI binary or Gray output code, Profibus, CANopen or DeviceNet.

Encoders are ATEX-approved, RoHS-compliant and CE-marked.
